New Staufer Saga Panorama open to public

Sunday, 09 October 2016

Artist Hans Kloss' second 360° painting is now open to public at the Panoramamuseum Schwäbisch Gmünd/Germany.

Since August 2012, Hans Kloss has been portraying all actors of the Staufersaga, one of the open-air dramas on the occasion of the 850th anniversary of the town of Schwäbisch Gmünd in the summer of 2012, on a 17 by 2.8 meter circular painting.

On the Staufersaga panorama, around 1,200 people are portrayed, including the participants of the Stauferzug, a historic parade on the occasion of the city jubilee, and all the assistants at the time in the background. In addition there are a hundred other people (for example horsemen in the background) and over fifty horses displayed.

The Staufer Saga Panorama is the second 360° painting by artist Hans Kloss. His first panoramic work opened in 2002 and is located at the monastery of Lorch close to Schwäbisch Gmünd.

The painting is not a claccical panorama with a realistic scenery that creates an immersive effect to visitors.
