Save the Date! – 27th International Panorama Conference in Istanbul, Turkey (2018)

The International Panorama Council formally invites you to join its 27th International Panorama Council Conference in Istanbul, Turkey. Hosted by the Panorama 1453 History Museum, the conference will take place September 19 – 21, 2018 at Greenpark Hotel Taksim with a post-conference tour of significant heritage sites in Istanbul on September 22, 2018 and an optional 5th day trip to the Panorama 1326 Museum in Bursa. Sponsorship is provided by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality CO.

The theme of this year’s conference is Memory and the Panorama and paper presentations will seek to unearth the presence of memory and historical truth in the context of the panorama. Program highlights will include guided tours of the Panorama 1453 History Museum, Miniatürk, and the Topkapi Turkish World as well as significant heritage sites such as the Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern and Grand Bazaar, which help place media art cultural heritage re-presentations of Istanbul into context. The optional 5th day trip to Bursa will take participants to the newly opened Panorama 1326 Museum.

This conference will be of interest to academics and students working in the fields of art, history and cultural heritage, panorama and museum practitioners, artists, designers, architects and panorama enthusiasts.
