The International Panorama Council is committed to the history and preservation of the panorama and its relevance to the broader context of the media arts. The mission of the Journal is to stimulate and foster worldwide interdisciplinary research on the panorama and its related forms.

The focus of the second edition of the International Panorama Council Journal is the theme of the 27th International Panorama Council Conference, “Memory and the Panorama,” which sought to examine the presence of memory and historical truth within the context of the panorama. Hosted by the Panorama 1453 History Museum with sponsorship from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the conference was held in Istanbul, Turkey, September 19 – 21, 2018.

Volume 2 contributors are: Blagovesta Momchedjikova, Fethiye Erbay, Gaston-François Maillard, Jean-Claude Brunner, Joel Zika, Jonathan Biz Medina, Katarina Andjelkovic, Laurence Garey, Marina Zboevskaya, Massimiliano Gaudiosi, Molly Catherine Briggs, Mutlu Erbay,  Nuri Özer Erbay, Ricardo Alvarado Tapia, Ruby Carlson, Sara Velas, Seth Thompson, Suzanne Wray, and Thiago Leitão de Souza.

I wish to thank Blagovesta Momchedjikova, Molly Catherine Briggs, Sylvia Alting van Geusau, and Thiago Leitão de Souza for working with me in developing this second edition.

I hope this announcement serves as a reminder of the importance and value that the International Panorama Council provides to the panorama community with its annual conferences, books, newsletter, and journal.

Please consider renewing your membership or becoming a member, if you have not already done so.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Kind Regards,
Seth Thompson
