On 16th July 2014 Pavel V. Rizhenko (1970 - 2014) passed away. He was a leading master of diorama art of the Grekov Studio of Military Artists in Russia.
Born in Kaluga, he studied at the Moscow Art School (1982-1988), the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after Ilya S.Glazunov (1990-1996) and taught at the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture at the Department of Composition (1999-2010).
Rizhenko was the author and/or co-author of seven dioramas: "Baptising of Prince Vladimir’s Squads under Chersonesus" (2010); "Brusilov Offensive" (2011); "The Outbreak of War in 1941" (2011); "The Battle of Moscow" (2011); "The Defence of Minsk on 25-28 June 1941" (2012); "Minsk "Сauldron"," (2013); "Standing on the Ugra River in 1480" (2014).
He is also the author of a sketch-model of the unrealised panorama "The Battle of Kulikovo."
